AHL Poker honors its 1st WSOP Champion
At some point all poker players dream of huge stacks and piles of cash as they take down a major WSOP event. Only the strong will, through persistence, skill and education chase that dream until they hold it in their hand or should I say, on their finger! For two years Ross Bybee has chased this dream and through all of the disappointments and bad beats he continued to learn and stay focused. Ross joined AHL Poker in June of 2011 and anyone who knows him can tell you, he isn't what you expect when you think "the great poker player". This isn't a statement to his play but rather to his demeanor and/or personality. You see I have played enough events to know that many of the guys that hit the big money carry an air of superiority and rarely have time to give you a helpful tip or make you feel equal. This could not be further from the truth with Ross or his wife Mary, they are truly two of the nicest most engaging people you will ever meet and both carry a true love and excitement for the game of poker that is infectious to those around them. Ross Bybee went for his dream once again when he took $580.00 and entered the WSOP Circuit $500K guarantee Ring Event this past weekend at Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, OK. Over two days and four rounds of entries 2,209 players entered this event bringing the prize pool to over one million dollars and setting the stage for Ross to attempt to take down one of the largest tournaments in Choctaw and WSOP Circuit history! I followed Ross on Twitter as he progressed until "11 left", "final table bubble" 9,8,7,6,5,4 and you start to think "he is going to do this" and because of the guy that he is you find yourself rooting for him as if it is a win for all of us in the AHL family. When the last hand fell two men were left at the table and with the win at stake Ross held AJ in his hand as he entered the final hand with his competitor holding KQ. The flop brings a king and Ross can only watch as his better hand falls behind, no help on the turn and then the river....ACE OF SPADES! Ross has done it, achieved his dream and become forever etched as a WSOP Champion! For his win Ross Bybee receives a World Series of Poker Champion Ring and $168,433.00 in prize money!

You can acheive anything if you are willing to work hard enough, believe long enough and just TRY!
Congratulations to Ross from all of us at AHL Poker,
